Arbor Day Observance

April 25 (Sat.) Spring planting, 9:00 a.m., Red Hook Recreation Park.

Planting one “Fall Fiesta” maple on the northeast corner of the tennis courts to complete the line of maples. About a dozen seedlings, from the Dutchess Soil and Water Department, installed along the Wetlands Walk. 

Planting a “Robin Hill” serviceberry in front of the Half Pint Day Care Center, Rockefeller Lane.

The Friends of the Library and the Tree Commission will distribute, until we run out, free tree seedlings, tree guides, tree magnets and invasive insect information (emerald ash borer and Asian longhorned beetle), 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in front of the Red Hook Library.

Hug-a-tree Donation Program: live costumed trees, $1.00 per hug for the Town’s Tree Commission planting program. 

May is Watershed Month 

May 6 (Wed.) “Trees for Tribs” D.E.C. grant initiative
Kevin Grieser, D.E.C. Riparian Buffer Coordinator, to direct planting 150 trees and shrubs along the Saw Kill creek, 10:00 a.m., Red Hook Rec. Park. 15 volunteers needed, contact Chairman Nancy Guski at 757-5121. 

May 16 (Sat.) “Rain Gardens”
Judy Wolf, Dutchess County Master Gardener, power point presentation, 2:00 p.m., Red Hook Town Hall. 

May 23 (Sat.) Children’s Book Author
Hudson Talbot, author of "River of Dreams The Story of the Hudson River”, book talk and signing, 2:00 p.m., Red Hook Village Hall.
